Mini-Biography -- Malcolm X

1. When was Malcolm X born? Where?
A: Malcom X was born on May 16, 1925 at Omaha, Nebraska.

2. Why did Malcolm X have to move so much at an early age? What happened to his father?
A: Malcom X had to move at such a early because of Ku Klux Klan threats, the family relocated in 1926 to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His dad was killed by the KKK all because he was a strong, and powerful man that didn't want to back down to the KKK members.

3. What made Malcolm lose his dream of becoming a lawyer? After he dropped out of school, what did he do for "work?"
A: Malcolm lost his dream of becoming a lawyer beacuse of the KKK. When he dropped in the 8th grade , he became a numbers runner, a drug dealer, even a pimp.

4.Malcolm X was sentenced to 10 years in prision. Why was he arrested and sentenced to jail? During his jail time, what happened to Malcolm X?
A: On January 12, 1946, MalcolmX was arrested for burglary while trying to pick up a stolen watch he had left for repairs at a jewelry shoop. He became a leader of people that hate white people.

5. What was Malcolm X's religion?
A: Malcolm x relgion is Islam.

6. How did Malcolm X regard Martin Luther King, Jr.? How did this end up changing?
A: Both Malcolm X and martin Lurher King Jr. had differences but put them aside to stand up against the whites.

A: Malcolm X was assassinated by three members of the group while giving a speech in New York.

Mini Biography: Martin Luther King, Jr

1. Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929. He was born in the Atlanta.
2.  he graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1951.
3.  He married on  June 18, 1953. His wife is Coretta Scott. They had four kids.
4. In 1954 he first became a pastor. He was at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church.
5. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) is an American civil rights organization.

7. He was a prominent leader in the Civil Right Movement.
8. Dr. King was arrested during a sit-in at a resturant, waiting to be served when the resturant did not serve african americans.

10. MLK died on  April 4, 1968. He was assasinated on a balcony of a hotel.

childrens campaign- its a childrens campaign.

Marchon Washington- was a large political rally in support of civil and economic rights for African Americans that took place in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, August 28, 1963. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his historic "I Have a Dream" speech advocating racial harmony at the Lincoln Memorial during the march.

Civil Rights Bill- The Civil Rights Bill was drawn with simplicity and care for a very necessary purpose. It declares who are citizens of the United States, defines their rights, prescribes penalties for violating them, and provides the means of redress.

Tsunami/Earthquake in Japan

  • The 8.9-magnitude earthquake struck northeast Japan at 2:45 p.m. local time, collapsing buildings 240 miles away in Tokyo, triggering a 30-foot tsunami that swept away everything in its path, and killing at least 300 people already.

Democratic National Conention-  was the 1964 presidential nominating convention of the Democratic Party.

Freedom riders/riders-  were civil rights activists that rode interstate buses into the segregated southern United States to test the United States Supreme Court decision Boynton v. Virginia (of 1960).

Freedom schools (Mississippi) 1964 - were temporary, alternative free schools for African Americans mostly in the South

Freedom summer-  was a campaign in the United States launched in June 1964 to attempt to register as many African American voters as possible in Mississippi

Civil rights movement

Albany (Georgia) Movement, 1961-Voter registration drives, petitions, and other activism had been ongoing in Albany for decades. However, a new phase of the campaign began with the arrival of three young SNCC activists
Birmingham, desegregation of, 1963 - By April of 1963, Birmingham, Alabama had become a national example of racial tension and strife. In the spring of 1962, city parks and public golf courses had been closed to prevent desegregation and the black community had attempted to protest racial activities by boycotting selected Birmingham merchants.
Black Power-  is a political slogan espoused by black racialists and a name for various associated ideologies. 
Brown v Board- of Education, 1954- the United States Supreme Court that declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students unconstitutional
bus boycotts - Montgomery, Alabama, decided that they would boycott the city buses until they could sit anywhere they wanted, instead of being relegated to the back when a white boarded . 
Central High School (Little Rock), 1957 - were a group of African-American students who were enrolled in Little Rock Central High School in 1957
Citizens Councils -  was an American white supremacist organization formed in 1954.
